About the Venue – The Woolshed at Jondaryan

Entry Fee – $8.50 per person (a group discount applied)

Address – 264 Jondaryan-Evanslea Road, Jondaryan

Once the largest freehold station in Queensland, The Woolshed at Jondaryan is a heritage-listed shearing shed built-in 1859-60. It replaces an earlier smaller woodshed at the pastoral station. It is one of the oldest and largest woodsheds in Australia. The Darling Downs region celebrates its rich, cultural and rural history that has become a part of the landscape.

The Woolshed is open seven days a week between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Enjoy good food and country views at the Woolshed Cafe or bring a snack for morning and afternoon tea to share.

Visit the Woolshed’s website for more information on their facilities.

Activities – Sketch and Paint

Join us to sketch and paint the old buildings, machinery, equipment and artefacts against the beautiful landscape. There will also be a nocturnal paint out for those staying Saturday night.

Make a Weekend of it!

If you want the authentic settler and pioneer experience, then you will love staying at the Jondaryan. Please advise if you would be interested in accommodation and staying overnight on either Saturday 7th March, Sunday 8th March or both.

There are cabins or shearers quarters, both private and shared available. Talk to Jenny to book your choice of beds/rooms.

WSQ will provide for its members the food for Saturday night. Additionally, for Sunday morning are eggs and sausages; however, BYO cereal or continental breakfast if you prefer. Attendees will do the cooking on an authentic camp kitchen and clean up!  There is a nominal amount for non-members.

Register your Attendance

Firstly, register that you will be attending the social outing to wsqworkshops@gmail.com or Contact Jenny on 0419 760 993 or Marilyn on 0428 320 066.

How to get there

The easiest way to get to the woodshed is to drive. Driving distance from Brisbane to the Woolshed is 40 minutes west of Toowoomba, approximately 2.5 hours in total. If you want to carpool, you can put together a travelling group or talk to us about the arrangements.

Thank you to Phil Cawthan.  Phil has visited and painted at Jondaryan Woolshed. His watercolour paintings are on display at the reception shop.  Phil will be with us on the day to mentor, advise, give help if you need it.
