Casual Painting with mentors

At Casual Painting with mentors meet, our Watercolour artist mentor provides us with skills, advice, expertise, encouragement, and motivation to help members on their watercolour journey.   It certainly builds your confidence and helps pave the way to our success.

Casual Painting group meets on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursday of the month, and on the first Thursday of each month. A Watercolour mentor joins our Casual Painting group at the society’s clubhouse.   The address is The Hub – 140 Weller Road, Tarragindi. The Watercolour Society of Queensland shares the premises with BVAC (Brisbane Visual Arts Community) in a very comfortable and quiet location.

To spur ideas and to help show the amazing variety of artistic styles and content its great to share your experiences whether it be an online class or a workshop with others.  Casual Painting with mentors is a good way to share experiences as well as learn from them.

Mentoring is such an important step in achieving watercolour artwork and our visit with Maria Field is always so welcoming and enjoyable.  6th August 2020 Maria wowed our member by giving her tips on how to get the best results from painting Guinevere McBride’s dog – thanks to Maria Field for spending the morning with our group…

3rd September 2020 (view Calendar post for future dates)

Anne Maree O’Brien shared with us her skills and knowledge to prepare us for a morning of Plein air painting before the group headed off to their perfect spot. Anne-Maree was our mentor and guide for the morning at the Tennyson Parklands. The morning started off looking like it was going to be a sultry day, but by 9.30 am the sun was out, beautiful sky and a wonderful day to be painting in the parklands and finishing off with lunch at the River La Vie cafe. Thank you Anne Maree – you are so passionate and inspiring. If there is one tip we all went away with is your travel pack – you have it down to a tee!
