Oh, What a trip it was!

15 members of The Watercolour Society had the luxury of visiting some of the most stunning Studios and Artists on the Sunshine Coast grouped together into FIVE TRAILS.   All based around Noosa and the hinterlands.   Each year they have Noosa Open Studios which provides locals and visitors to the beautiful Sunshine Coast Region with the unique chance to visit artists in their private studios over several days in October.

All the artists’ studios were open for three days of both weekends, that is 9th to 11th and then again 16th 18th October.  We organized the trip for Thursday 15th and Friday 16th October.

Members drove, and some carpooled to Tewantin where accommodation was organized at the Big 4 Ingenia Holiday Cabins.   Members stayed in cabins.  The cabins were clean, comfortable, and offered all the amenities we required. It was an enjoyable and pleasurable couple of days with our members on the Noosa Open Studio Trail. It was a bit of fun toing and froing sorting out which studios to stop off.   We certainly covered the diversity of styles and expressions which should have suited all our interests. We look forward to doing something like this again to create more memories.

There were vast advantages by using Boomerang Bus hire.  Sunshine Coast Bus charters.  Our drivers for both days provided us with a safe trip, reliable, and plenty of comforts leaving us to enjoy our trail.

After the first day’s trail, we gathered together at one of the cabins for a drink, nibble, and chat. The best of all, the highlight of the trip is that new friendships were made.

Trail Structure:

We started the trail at Wallace House Hub to view all the artists’ works on display and to pick up the Noosa Open Studios Guide. We got tips on how to access the best trail, and then we hit our Trail. The trail could be finished in two days.

Day 1 was– Thursday 15th October 2020. This was a fun time trying to familiarize ourselves with the locations and the Studios. We had lots of conversations with the Artists.

Date 2 was – Friday 16th October 2020. This day was mostly goodbyes and feedback.

Members on the Noosa Open Studio Art trail: Marilyn Revell, Wyn Vogel, Diane Bale, Jo and Caleb Lim, Inge Scott, Priscilla Gibbs, Julie Brims, Meg Johansen, Lynn Kennedy, Penny Campbell, Jenelle Persson, Elenore Hausler, and organizer Jenny Loveday
