The work is one of a series created from my high rise apartment windows which overlook views of Brisbane to the south. On a clear day I can see as far as Mount Warning in New South Wales.
I began sketching and painting 'en plean air' during the 2020 lockdowns and was captivated by the ever changing weather and light playing over the panorama.
I began painting this work during the longest lockdown on an afternoon when the beauty of the late afternoon sky and the lights playing prettily over the river and city were in stark contrast to the emptiness of the roads. Ferries and Trains were running but no cars or people populated the streets.
